Interns

In 1990, our Department of Anaesthesiology, Resuscitation and Pain Treatment was certified by the Ministry of Health for the training of Anaesthesiology specialists. Since then, we have had the honour of hosting an annual MIR (Intern Programme). The successful candidate is chosen from a short-list of applicants, and their résumé and the grade obtained in the MIR examination are also taken into account. They are also asked to attend a personal interview. This process allows us to ensure that they meet the essential requirements to be part of our team.

In the course of these 25 years, we have trained interns from different cities in Spain, and all of them have adapted quickly and satisfactorily to our way of working. Language has never been a barrier. Quite the opposite rather, it has always proved to be an opportunity.

As intern tutor, I derive great satisfaction from my job, largely due to the enthusiasm shown by our interns and their excellent working capacity. My objective is to train future professionals who pursue excellence, a goal that is accomplished thanks to the collaboration and teaching commitment of all the departmental members. We have the advantage that our team offers a very personalised, albeit demanding, approach, with a training plan adapted to each year of internship, setting clearly-defined objectives, also pitched to match each intern's interests and pace in order for them to make the most of their four years of training.

We have a fond memory of all the anaesthesiologists who have trained with us, and maintain a bond of friendship with all of them. For us, it is a source of great satisfaction to know that they have become excellent professionals.

I would like to encourage all future interns that may be interested in becoming anaesthesiologists to apply for a position with us. We will ask you to come with a desire to learn and to enjoy your work. We can offer you an extensive programme of academic and technical and healthcare activities, underpinned by scientific rigour, and which is permanently updated. It goes without saying that we have an excellent "bedside manner" with patients. In short, everything is conceived to help you to complete your internship and become anaesthesiologists trained in and through excellence and to go on to forge a successful professional career.
